I Might Have Been Born at Night…

This post originally appeared 4/16 on my blog site

I know it’s been ages since I’ve last written…life has been hectic and I haven’t had time to even contemplate my belly button lint let alone put my thoughts in a blog. Over the past few weeks, I have been involved in a little bit of a conflict. I can’t go into details BUT, what I can say is that “I might have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night.”

Nothing gets me more pissed off than someone trying to take advantage of me. I am a good person. I am all about doing the right thing. I will bend over backwards to help someone. It’s in my nature to be helpful and to try to give 100%. Sometimes, though, people think I just fell off of the turnip truck and try to take advantage of me.

I have learned how to advocate for myself much better over the past few years. I may not “win” the battle but I’m not going down without a fight, that’s for sure. Don’t mistake my good nature for a sign of weakness.

I wonder, dear reader, when was the last time you advocated for yourself? When was the last time you didn’t allow someone to take advantage of you? When was the last time you said “enough is enough?” If you have, good for you! Keep it up. If you haven’t…what are you waiting for? Life is too short to be a doormat. Be the curtains hanging in the window, be the front door, be whatever you want but DON’T BE A DOORMAT!

Until Next Time,

Dr. Jill
